Matt Kerr caught passes of 76 and 60 yards in the third quarter, as Monticello pulled away in the second half to a 51-19 Illini Prairie Conference win over Champaign St. Thomas More Friday night in Monticello.
Kerr’s receptions were in the third quarter and helped Monticello extend a 21-13 halftime lead into a rout in the second half as the Sages outscored STM 30-6.
Kerr added a strip-sack and was a terror on defense in his first game back after missing the Sages first two games of the season.
Nic Tackels completed just four passes on the night for a net of 135 yards. He also added a rushing touchdown and 43 yards.
Chris Brown had 139 yards on 19 carries with two touchdowns.
Hayden Graham had two pick-sixes and Tackels added two interceptions on defense.
The Sages improve to 2-1 and the Sabres dropped to 0-3 on the season.
