Shake Up In Class 1A Football Rankings; Class 2A, 3A Unchanged

Class 1A of the IHSA Associated Press football rankings saw a shake up after a wild week of high school football.

 

Lena-Winslow received 11 first place votes to check in as the number team in 1A. After their drubbing of Clinton at home, Central A&M moves up to No. 2 from third last week. 

 

Annawan-Weathersfield, Morrison and Ottawa Marquette all jump a spot to come in 3-6 respectively. 

 

After their week 7 loss to top-ranked Lena-Winslow, Forreston drops from second to sixth. Aquin is ranked seven. Hope Academy jumps from 10 to 8, and received a first place vote in 1A. Camp Point Central moves to eight and Athens down to nine in 1A. 

 

It was an uneventful week in the Class 2A and 3A in the high school football rankings.

 

The entirety of the top 10 remained unchanged as Fieldcrest received seven first place votes, holding at no. 1 overall followed by Clifton Central, who received five first place votes and checks in at no. 2 followed by Maroa-Forsyth, who received one first place vote. GCMS and Decatur St. Teresa round out the top five. Knoxville, Newman Central Catholic, Bismarck-Henning, Auburn and West Carroll round out the top 10 in 2A.

 

In Class 3A, the top 10 all remained unchanged as well. Wilmington received nine first plates votes to hold steady at no. 1 overall, followed by Williamsville and their four first place votes. Byron, Beardstown, and Vandalia round out the top 5. Nashville, Fairfield, Pana, Princeton and Eureka round out the top 10.

 

The top five in 4A remained unchanged. IC Catholic checks in at No. 1 followed by Rochester, Coal City, Richmond-Burton and Stillman Valley round out the top 5. The only change in 4A was a swap at 9-10, Genoa-Kingston and Chicago St. Francis traded places this week. 

 

East St. Louis is the uninamous No. 1 team in 5A. Chatham-Glenwood holds their place atop the 6A rankings. Normal West dropped out of the top 10 despite a 35-6 win over Peoria Manual last Friday. Lemont enters the top 10.

 

Chicago Mt. Carmel is the top team in 7A. Normal Community enters the rankings this week after clinching the Big Twelve title this past week with a win over Danville. 

 

Lincon-Way East is the top team in 8A.
