Local Teams Make Moves in Latest High School Football Rankings

The final week of the high school football regular season is here and you won't find many teams in the top 10 of the high school football rankings fighting for playoff spots.

 

Movement was minimal this week but some local teams made news in this week's rankings.

In Class 1A, previously ranked Ottawa Marquette dropped out of the rankings following their second loss of the season. Lena-Winslow holds their position at no. 1 overall, collecting all nine first-place votes. Central A&M holds steady at no. 2 and Carroltlton jumped in the rankings. Arcola and Argenta-Oreana received votes this week in 1A.

 

In Class 2A, defending state champion GCMS received a vote for first place from their fourth spot in the latest rankings. Fieldcrest remains No. 1 with six first-place votes and Clifton Central received three first-place votes at no. 2. Maroa-Forsyth held steady at no. 3 and St. T remains fifth this week. 

Sixth through ninth remained unchanged with Knoxville, Newman Central Catholic, Bismarck-Henning, and Auburn followed by Flora new to this week's rankings rounding out the top 10 in 2A.

 

Williamsville received seven of ten first-place votes to jump to no. 1. Byron jumped a spot to no. 2 with a first-place vote followed by Wilmington and Beardstown in a tie for no. 3 with 69 points and a first-place vote each. Vandalia rounds out the top five. Fairfield, Princeton, DuQuoin, Breese Mater Dei and Pana round out the top ten in 3A. 

 

Rochester takes over the top spot in 4A after IC Catholic lost for the first time last week. The Rockets received seven first-place votes and Coal City collected the other two first-place votes to move up to no. 2 and Richmond-Burton moved up to no. 3. Chicago St. Francis and IC Catholic round out the top 5. Mt. Zion, Stillman Valley, Columbia, IVC, and Effingham round out the top ten.

 

IVC jumps back into the rankings for the first time in two weeks at 8-0 and wrapped up the Illini Prairie Conference title. Tolono Unity and Prairie Central in the Illini Prairie received votes in 4A. 

East St. Louis was the unanimous no. 1 team in 5A. Dunlap jumps into this week's rankings at no. 10.

 

Chatham-Glenwood received seven of eight first-place votes in 6A. They'll host top-ranked Rochester Friday night. Second-ranked Crete-Monee received the other first-place vote. Normal West and Peoria Central enter this week's rankings at nine and ten respectively. 

 

Chicago Mt. Carmel is no. 1 in 7A. Normal Community moved up a spot to no. 9 this week. 

 

Lincoln-Way East is the unanimous no. 1 in 8A.
