Monticello Drops St. Joseph-Ogden; Secures Playoff Spot with Sixth Win

Chris Brown eclipsed 300 total yards and the Monticello defense rebounded from a tough outing last Friday night to drop St. Joseph-Ogden 35-6 in the regular-season finale Friday night at Monticello High School. 

 

Brown ran for two touchdowns and was on the receiving end of another, eclipsing 100 yards early in the first half and racing to 253 total rushing yards and an 81-yard touchdown reception. 

 

Matt Kerr caught four catches for 54 yards and scored once. He also had 18 yards on the ground on a single jet-sweep carry in the first quarter.

 

Nic Tackels was an efficient 7-for-12 for 154 yards and two touchdown passes and rushed for another score on 35 yards over eight carries.

 

Jarrett Stevenson was the lone Spartan to find the end zone late in the ballgame and led the St. Joe offense with 48 yards. 

 

The Sages finish the regular season 6-3 and are projected to find themselves south in the 3A playoffs. 

 

St. Joe finishes the regular season 5-4 and should hear their name called tomorrow night.
