Riverton Tops Monticello

Travis Hogan scored 29 points and Riverton overcame 20 turnovers with sharp shooting and beat Monticello 55-41 in non-conference high school boys basketball action Tuesday from Riverton High School. 

 

Hogan stole the show Tuesday, shooting 13-for-17 from the floor and grabbed nine rebounds.

 

Riverton jumped out to a 15-4 lead after the first quarter and led 27-13 at the half. 

 

Monticello’s offense was stagnant was the first half but came alive in the second half thanks to aggressive play from Garrett Kepley. The senior scored 9 of his 15 in the second half. Sophomore Dylan Ginalick and junior Jake Edmondson scored six points apiece and sophomore Ben Cresap scored four points. 

 

Ethan Miller added eight points for the Sages.

 

Monticello outrebounded the much taller Hawks 30-28 but could only convert 20 turnovers into 12 points. They had zero points off 11 Riverton turnovers in the first half. 

 

The Hawks dominated points in the paint, 32-20. 

 

Riverton improves to 2-2 overall and the Sages are 0-2.
