Stark County Edges Monticello in Girls Basketball Holiday Hoopla Action

A Monticello rally fell just short against Stark County as the Lady Sages lost 51-50 in their opener of the Holiday Hoopla girls basketball tournament from Monticello High School Thursday morning.

 

The Lady Sages trailed 20-9 after once quarter of play and trailed 45-36 after three but rallied in the fourth quarter, outscoring Stark County 14-6 in the final frame.

 

Lizzie Stiverson and Cloe Clark paced the Lady Sages with 13 points apiece. Renni Fultz added 12 points.

 

Olivia Hopp paced Stark County with 14 points, Kesley Berchtold scored 12 points and Lexi Davis added 11 points.

 

The Lady Sages will play their second game of the tournament tonight opposite GCMS at 6 pm.

In the second game in the girl's tournament of the Hoopla, Tuscola beat GCMS 51-17.
