In a game heard on WEZC and dewittdailynews.com Friday night, Illinois Valley Central beat Monticello 66-51 in Illini Prairie Conference boys basketball action from Chillicothe.
The Grey Ghosts finished the first quarter on a 7-0 run to take a 14-9 lead and slowly pulled away the rest of the way, shooting 49-percent from the floor and scored 32 points in the paint.
Kamden Wollard scored a game-high 24 points to pace the Grey Ghosts and Holt Geltmaker added 18 points, as the IVC controlled nearly every aspect of the game.
The Grey Ghosts outrebounded the Sages 33-29, outscored Monticello in the paint 32-26, scored 19 fast-break points to Monticello’s four, and had 11 second-chance points on eight offensive rebounds.
Garrett Kepley led the Sages with 18 points. Ethan Miller chipped in with 11 points.
The Grey Ghosts improve to 18-6 overall and are 4-1 in the Illini Prairie. The Sages drop to 12-11 overall and are just 1-4 in league play.
