Monticello Rolls BCC

The Monticello Sages jumped out to a 19-2 lead in the first quarter and rolled past the Bloomington Central Catholic Saints 78-52 in Illini Prairie Conference boys basketball action from Monticello High School Friday night.

 

The Sages scored the games first 14 points and led 36-20 at the half. BCC got within ten after Cole Davis made a three-pointer with 4:54 to play in the third and Monticello ran away with it from there.

 

Garrett Kepley scored 15 of his 19 points in the second half. Ethan Miller’s 11 points were highlighted by a buzzer-beating three as time expired on the first half to extend the Sages lead to 16. Nick Vogelzang chipped in with a career-high 11 points and Dylan Ginalick added ten points.

 

Ryan Reeder scored nine points and Briggs Fultz and Jake Edmondson added eight points apiece.

 

The Sages have won three in a row improving to 15-11 and 3-4 in Illini Prairie play. Monticello wraps up their Holy Week tour hosting Decatur St. Teresa Saturday night for Senior Night and the finale of Miller Gym.

 

BCC is 17-11 and falls to 4-3 in the Illini Prairie.
