Monticello Holds Off St. T in Miller Gym Finale

Monticello held off Decatur St. Teresa 44-41 on senior night at Monticello High School Saturday night to close out the Miller Gym era.

 

The Sages started fast with a 5-0 lead right off the bat but the Bulldogs rallied with a 9-0 run in the first quarter. Monticello led 11-9 late in the first and that would be their final lead until the third quarter when Garrett Kepley hit a three from the left wing with 4:20 to play in the third quarter to make 27-26. 

 

St. T tied the score at the score briefly at 27 but Monticello led by as many as six but the Bulldogs never got closer than within one. 

 

Monticello was led by Garrett Kepley’s 18 points. Kepley made 6-of-7 free throws in the fourth quarter and made 8-for-10 overall. Ethan Miller scored ten points but fouled out with 5:12 to play. Ryan Reeder scored all eight of his points in the second half. 

 

Tim Schmidt led the Bulldogs with 13 points. Christian Stoner added 11 points and Terron Reed added ten points.

 

Monticello is now 16-11 overall. St. T drops to 15-11.
