Illinois State Outlasts Florida A&M

Illinois State (7-8) exploded for four runs on five hits in the tenth inning of an 8-4 victory at Florida A&M Tuesday evening in Tallahassee, Florida.

 

Illinois State scored four runs on five hits in the tenth inning to take an 8-4 lead. Braedon Blackford, Aidan Huggins and Jordan Libman all had run-scoring hits in the frame.

 

The Redbirds scored four runs in the second inning, including a three-run home run by Ryan Cermak to left field.

 

Florida A&M responded with three runs on two hits in the third inning to make it 4-3. William Brooks tied the game in the eighth inning with an RBI single.

 

Cermak led ISU with three RBIs, finishing 2-for-4. Jake McCaw finished 2-for-5 with a run batted in and two scored. Huggins finished 2-for-5 and Libman was 1-for-5 with two RBIs.

 

Derek Salata pitched two scoreless innings to pick up the win. Brady Huffman, Jackson Bronke, Michael Sebby and Colin Wyman pitched multiple innings for ISU.

 

The Redbirds will remain in Tallahassee for a 5 p.m. CT battle Wednesday at No. 15 Florida State.
