Lincoln High School Baseball Awaits News on Status of Their Season

With schools closed for two weeks to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, Illinois high school sports programs will await the resumption of school in hopes that will allow them to resume their season which is on hold.

Lincoln High School baseball coach Auggie Casson was telling his players to keep their minds clear and play each rep like it is their last.

Coach Casson and other central Illinois coaches are of the belief once school resumes they will be able to resume practicing and playing. In the meantime, he has given his players a workout routine to follow but wants them to make sure their e-learning opportunities are taken care of first.

Games canceled so far for Lincoln baseball was their season opener Saturday against Warrensburg-Latham, that game obviously would have been snowed out. Other games canceled include a scheduled game today (Monday) against Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin, then a Saturday game against Eureka and Monday, March 30 against Monticello.

Further games could be canceled if Illinois Governor JB Pritzker extends the closure of schools in Illinois.
