Cresap, Ginalick Spark Second Half Rally As Monticello Steamrolls Olympia

Ben Cresap and Dylan Ginalick scored 14 of their co-game high 17 points in the second half and Monticello rallied from a 7-point halftime deficit to beat Olympia 51-28 Tuesday night in Illini Prairie Conference boys basketball action at Olympia High School.

 

As heard on WEZC and at dewittdailynews.com Tuesday, the Sages trailed 21-14 at the intermission but started the third quarter on a 7-0 run that tied the game at 21 and outscored Olympia 27-7 for the frame then held the Spartans scoreless in the fourth quarter ensuring the win.

 

Cresap scored 12 points in the third quarter and Ginalick added nine, both finished with a game-high 17. 

 

Trevor Fox scored nine points and grabbed five rebounds for Monticello and Jake Edmondson added seven points.

 

Cresap also had six steals and five rebounds. 

 

Ethan Davis led Olympia with nine points and Hunter Berges added eight.

 

Monticello’s defense held Olympia to 2-for-13 from beyond the arc and the Sages shot 51.2 percent from the floor.

 

Monticello scored 30 points in the paint and turned 21 Olympia turnovers in 28 points.
