Joey Sprinkle threw five touchdown passes to five different receivers, all in the first half, as Monticello scored 27 pionts in the second quarter and shut out Rantoul 40-0 in Illini Prairie Conference football action Friday night at Monticello High School.
As heard on WEZC, Sprinkle connected on a short touchdown throw to Hunter Williams to stake the Sages to a 6-0 lead in the first quarter, then connected for 22-yards to Chris Brown, 41 yards to Colton Knuffman (cuh-nuff-man), 39 yards to Tristan Foran, and finally 30 yards to Peyton Scott.
The Sages led 33-0 at the intermission and Sprinkle’s night under center was done.
Jason Brown played a trio of series’ and executed a perfect quarterback option pitch to Chris Brown for another 25 yards putting the Sages up 40-0 and set up a running clock the rest of the way.
Tristan Stone had five carries for 48 yards to lead the Eagles.
The Eagles in their first game fall to 0-1.
