Illinois State Hosts Evansville for Four-Game Set

The Illinois State baseball team is set to return to Missouri Valley Conference action after traveling to Milwaukee last weekend as it hosts Evansville for a four-game series starting tonight and wrapping up Sunday with a Saturday double-header. 

 

Colton Johnson gets the ball today and Jordan Lussier starts game one Saturday with no starter announced for game two. Sean Sinisko gets the ball Sunday.

 

Illinois State fell in three tight games at Milwaukee before winning the final game of the series, 10-2.

 

Despite going 1-3 over the weekend, the Redbirds outscored the Panthers 14-6. ISU pitchers gave up just 7 earned runs in 31 IP while limiting MKE to a .204 batting average. The Redbird bullpen conceded just a pair of hits over 13 innings. They did not allow an earned run.

 

Evansville is 19-15 overall and 4-7 in the MVC while the Redbirds are 13-21 overall and 4-4 in The Valley.
