Joey Sprinkle and Luke Teschke went deep as Monticello surged past Broadlands-Heritage 15-10 in non-conference baseball action Tuesday in Broadlands.
The Sages roared out of the gates scoring six unanswered runs after an inning-and-a-half but Broadlands scored five runs in the bottom of the second inning.
The Sages then went on to tack on nine runs to open up a 15-5 lead after five-and-a-half and as Andrew Rudolph finished off the game on the mound for the win despite allowing four runs in the bottom half of the seventh.
Sprinkle finished 1-for-3 with his home run and a walk. He scored twice. Teschke was 1-for-4. Tristan Foran finished 2-for-4 with a walk, an RBI and two runs scored. He was the only Sage to record multiple hits as Monticello drew nine walks. Jared Lockmiller scored twice for Monticello, finishing 0-for-3 with two walks.
Hunter Williams and Jake Edmondson drove in runs as well.
Monticello travels to Prairie Central Thursday to open Illini Prairie Conference action.
