Regional Radio News has learned Clinton High School football coach Chris Ridgeway has resigned.

Athletic Director Matt Koeppel confirmed Ridgeway's resignation indicating Ridgeway's travel and time away from family as reasons he stepped down.

The process to find a replacement is underway. Koeppel hopes to make contact with coaches he knows but wants to find someone that will bring energy to the program and invest in the student-athletes and the community.

The hiring process will face a unique challenge because the football season wrapped up so late due to being postponed due to COVID and with summer workouts starting in early June, Koeppel says he's not going to rush to find a candidate with the quick turnaround.

If a replacement is not found before the June 2 start of summer weight lifting, Koeppel indicates he has been given a program for the kids to follow.
