Monticello held off IVC 5-3 in Illini Prairie Conference girl's softball from Chillicothe Thursday afternoon.

Mackenzie Daniels hit a 3-run home run third inning to stake the Lady Sages to a 3-1 lead and Addison Wallace drove in two insurance runs in the sixth to make the score 5-1. 

The Lady Grey Ghosts scored two in the bottom of the seventh inning but Avery Oberheim came in to close out the victory in relief of Macy Hicks. 

Hicks went 6 1/3 innings allowing three runs, two earned, 12 hits and issued a walk.

Wallace paced the Lady Sages offense finishing 2-for-3 with a triple. Josie Nelson finished 2-for-2 with a walk and scored a run. Oberheim, Daniels, Lizzie Stiverson, Hannah Uebinger, and Shay Boman each recorded hits. 

The Lady Sages are 6-5 overall. They travel to Charleston this afternoon.
