Warrensburg-Latham scored four third inning runs and held down the Clinton Maroons for a 5-1 win Friday afternoon in Central Illinois Conference boy’s baseball action in Warrensburg.
Joey Young threw six innings of one-run ball. He allowed six hits, a walk and struck out twelve.
The Cardinals were led by Brayden Closs who went 2-for-3 with a triple and RBI. Greg Allen finished 2-for-2 with an RBI and Jacob Six had a two-run double.
Dominick Thayer pitched 2 ? innings of scoreless relief of Jaxson White. Thayer issued two walks and struck out five. White went 3 ? innings allowing six runs, five earned and struck out a batter while issuing eight walks.
Thayer doubled in a run and Caiden Rich had a triple for the Maroons.
Conner Henne pitched a scoreless inning of relief for the Cardinals.
The Cardinals improve to 8-3 overall and are 4-1 in conference. The Maroons drop to 2-5 overall, all their contests have been in conference play.
The two teams will meet again Monday afternoon at Clinton High School.
