Monticello Blanks Rantoul on Homecoming Night

As heard on WEZC, Monticello shut out Rantoul 28-0 on Homecoming night from Monticello High School in Illini Prairie Conference high school football action.

 

The Sages started fast, scoring on its first two possessions as Joey Sprinkle had a one-yard touchdown run to make the score 6-0 and then Jacob Tackett scored from a yard out after a 62-yard run set up his only score of the night.

 

But the Eagles' defense stood tall the rest of the half and they controlled the ball on offense.

 

Tylor Bundy opened the Sages scoring in the second half with a 24-yard run and Sprinkle hit Triston Foran for a 6-yard touchdown to make it 28-0.

 

Sprinkle finished 16-for-25 with 191 yards and a touchdown passing and ran for 46 yards and a touchdown on seven carries.

 

Bundy finished with just two carries and 32 yards with a touchdown.

 

Tackett finished with nine carries for 90 yards and a touchdown while Foran hauled in five catches for 45 yards and a touchdown.

 

Spencer Mitze (mitts) continued to play well for the Sages, finishing with six catches for 96 yards. Peyton Scott had two catches for 25 yards and a 10-yard run. 

 

Monticello is 6-0 on the season while Rantoul falls to 0-6. The Sages head to Paxton to take on Paxton-Buckley-Loda next Friday night. Hear the action on 95.9 FM WEZC and online at dewittdailynews.com.
