Maroons Ready for Meridian

The Clinton Maroons will hit the road for Week 8 of the high school football season when they travel to Meridian tonight for Central Illinois Conference football action.

The Maroons lost a close Homecoming game to Warrensburg-Latham 30-22 last Friday night. Coach Ron Bass felt his team played hard and is pleased with the response after announcing last week he would be dividing the team into a senior-led group and a group of younger players coming back next year.

The Maroons travel to Meridian and the 4-3 Hawks are in a position to qualify for the postseason with a win Friday. Coach Bass noted the opportunities they created for themselves in a crucial win over Shelbyville.

The Maroons come into tonight's game at 1-5 overall with a week four forfeit on its resume. Tonight's action kicks at 7 pm and can be heard on WHOW, online at dewittdailynews.com, at the WHOW mobile app, and at Amazon Alexa.
