Five Clinton Cross Country Runners Make All-Conference

The Clinton Lady Maroons cross country team qualified four runners for All-Conference and Drew Moser qualified for the boy's All-Conference at the Central Illinois Conference Cross Country meet at Wimple Park in Tuscola Thursday.

 

Moser set a personal best, running 17-minutes, 15-seconds, a six-second differential from his previous best.

Lexi Lord set a personal best and took home the Conference championship finishing first and is the seventh runner in Clinton High School history to break the 20-minute mark and tied the fourth-best time in school history.

 

Clare Holland finished second with another personal record of 20-minutes, 15-seconds. Her time cut off 28-seconds from her previous best of 20-minutes, 43-seconds. Holland went from a 15th place finish as a freshman to an 11th place finish as a sophomore, then 8th last year, her junior year, and second-place as a senior.

 

MaKayla Koeppel finished third with a personal best of 20-minutes, 38-seconds. It was 12-seconds ahead of her previous best. Koeppel finished fourth in the conference last year.

 

Amerie Hemphill was the final all-conference qualifier finished with a personal best of 21-minutes, 45-seconds. At the 400-meter mark of the race, Hemphill was in 11th place around 35-meters behind 10th place, and finished strong to pass for 10th. Her late rally earned her the athlete of the meet.

 

Chloe Barth, Missy Hale, Autumn Brinkoetter and Maddi Leonard all set personal bests at the conference meet for the girls. 

 

Talan Thrasher, Preston Daniels, and Colin Jameson set personal bests at the conference meet while Aidan Shanks and Jade Carlos Gustafson set course personal records Thursday.

 

The postseason is up next for the Maroons.
