Clinton Cross Country Teams Advances to Sectionals

The Clinton Maroons boy's and girl's cross country teams are advancing to Sectionals.

The Lady Maroon's finished second at the Tuscola Regional at Wimple Park while the boy's placed seventh.

 

Clinton's Lexi Lord and Clare Holland finished fourth and fifth respectively while MaKayla Koeppel finished eighth. 

 

Lord's new lifetime best 19:23 - nearly twenty seconds off her time last week of 19:42 - is the 2nd fastest in Clinton’s history. Holland also set a lifetime best at the Regional with a 19:47, the eighth time a girl has broken the 20-minute mark in the school's history. Koeppel's time of 20:14 was her season-best and was 24 seconds off her time last week at Regionals.

 

Amerie Hemphill finished 20th, Jessie Wertz finished 23rd, Alexa Harris 25th, and Chloe Barth 29th.


 Sophomore Drew Moser was the top boy's finisher at 20th overall with a lifetime best of 17:07, nine seconds ahead of time last week of 17:16. Jade-Carlos Gustaffson finished 38th, Justyn West 47th, Talan Thrasher 49th, Preston Daniels 55th, and Colin Jameson 62nd. Daniels' 19:13 finish was his lifetime best and 15 seconds off his Conference meet time of 19:28 last week.

 

Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond, Monticello, Decatur St. Teresa, Shelbyville, and Tuscola were the top five team finishers on the boy's side. Heyworth, Clinton, Bement, Villa Grove, Argenta-Oreana and Sullivan round out the top ten finishers. 

 

Monticello's Ed Mitchell was the top finisher for the Sages. Logan Beckmier was the top boy's finisher from Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond. Phoenix Firnhaber from Shelbyville finished second. 

 

Dylan Howell from Bement finished ninth. Jacob Elston finished 11th for the Sages while Caleb Wood finished 14th. 

 

Mabry Bruhn, Rachel Koon and Sylvia Miller helped the Monticello Lady Sages sweep the top-three finishers and finished first overall as a team on the girl's side. After Clinton finished second, Shelbyville, Argenta-Oreana, and Tuscola round out the girl's top five. Decatur St. Teresa, Villa Grove, Heyworth, Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond and Bement round out the top 10 finishers. 

 

Heidi Heldt was the top finisher for Argenta-Oreana at no. 9. Danielle Strunk was Heyworth's top finisher at No. 11. Clara Rudolph and Kyara Welter finished 13th and 14th, respectively. Joe Walker finished 17th for the Lady Sages.
