Mahomet-Seymour Bulldogs Gaining Respect as 5A Playoffs Kickoff

The Mahomet-Seymour Bulldogs are hoping a senior-heavy group with a lot of talent has them poised to make a deep run as they begin their journey in the 5A playoffs this Saturday when they host Jacksonville.

Bulldgos Head Coach John Adkins says his 11 seniors provide great leadership to his team and they can win a variety of ways. Defensively, Coach Adkins believes his team is fun to watch on that side of the ball.

When the preseason top-10 rankings came out, Coach Adkin's Bulldogs were not on the radar but gradually, his team started to gain recognition, finishing the final regular-season poll coming into week 9 at No. 4 in the state. Despite a lack of early respect from the pollsters, Coach Adkins says his kids kept their heads down and kept working.

For his team to be successful in the postseason, Coach Adkins says his group needs to continue to get better each day and continue the hard work that has gotten them to this point in the season.

The Bulldgos host Jacksonville Saturday at 7 pm. The winner gets a chance to take on Troy Triad or Hillcrest.
