Monticello Finishes Regular Season No. 10 in Latest High Schoo Football Polls

The Monticello Sages dropped two of its final three regular-season games and finishes the regular season at No. 10 in the final 3A high school football rankings as the first round of the high school playoffs kicks tomorrow night.

 

The Sages dropped a tough week seven matchup at Paxton-Buckley-Loda and then a week nine matchup at home against Tolono Unity in overtime. 

 

The Illini Prairie Conference regular-season champion Tolono Unity finishes No. 3 in the final poll. IC Catholic received 13 first-place votes to finish No. 1 in 3A. Byron received a first-place vote to finish second, Unity was followed by Williamsville who received a first-place vote as well came in fourth and Princeton rounded out the top five. 

 

Mt. Carmel, Reed-Custer, Durand, and Benton preceded Monticello in rounding out the top ten.

 

In Class 1A, Carrollton finished with four first-place votes to come in at No. 1. Athens received ten first-place votes but is No. 2 this week followed by Camp Point Central, Forreston, and Lena-Winslow who received a first-place vote rounds out the top five.

 

Fulton, Abdingdon, Ottawa Marquette, St. Bede and Aurora Christian round out the 1A top ten. 

 

In 2A, Wilmington is No. 1 with ten first-place votes. Decatur St. Teresa received four first-place votes and comes in No. 2 this week. Breese Mater Dei off its big win over Mt. Zion Friday is No. 3. Tri-Valley finished the regular season at No. 4 and Farmington rounds out the top 5.

 

Bismarck-Henning, Pana, Bishop McNamara, Nashville and Knoxville round out the top ten.

 

In the 2A poll, Wilmington and Farmington dropped a class from last week after the IHSA postseason seeding. 

 

Rochester is No. 2 this week in the 4A poll. The Rockets dropped a class after the IHSA postseason seeding was released last week. Joliet Catholic is No. and Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin checks in at No. 3. Richmond-Burton and Genoa-Kingston round out the top 10. 

 

Chicago Phillips, St. Francis, Kewanee, Peoria Notre Dame are five through nine in this week's poll like Wheaton Academy and Breese Central tied for No. 10 in the poll this week. 

 

In 5A, the Mahomet-Seymour Bulldogs finish the regular season No. 4. Oak Park Fenwick, Kankakee and Morris were the top three and Peoria rounds out the top 5.

 

Sterling and Mascoutah tied for sixth in the poll this week and Glenbard South, Marion and LaGrange Park Nazareth round out the top 10.

 

Washington finished the regular season No. 9 in the 6A poll while Normal Community wraps up the regular season No. 6 in the 7A poll.
