Trio of Lady Maroons Runners Advance to State

A trio of Clinton Lady Maroons cross country runners advanced to the state finals meet in Peoria this weekend. 

 

Lexi Lord, Clare Holland, and MaKayla Koeppel advanced after this weekend's competition in Decatur, doubling the girl's runners to advance to the state meet in the school's history. They join Heather Wise, Chris Holl, and Payne Turney in state appearances.

 

The girl's team finished just three points shy of advancing as a team. 

 

The Maroons boy's runners finished 30th at the Sectional meet in Decatur led by sophomore Drew Moser who finished 14th with a time of 17-minutes and 22.65-seconds. The boys finished seventh. 

 

On the boy's side of the Sectional, Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond took home the Sectional championship. St. Joseph-Ogden, Monticello, Decatur St. Teresa, and Newton round out the top-5 while Shelbyville, Tuscola, Bismarck-Henning, Paxton-Buckley-Loda, and Urbana University rounded out the top-10.

 

In the girl's event, Tolono Unity won the sectional while St. Joseph-Ogden, Monticello, Urbana University, and Robinson round out the top-5. 

 

Monticello senior Ed Mitchell finished fifth on the boy's side and will compete at the State meet in Peoria this weekend. Meanwhile, in the girl's meet, Monticello junior Mabry Bruhn finished third, senior Rachel Koon finished sixth to advance to the State meet.
