Off a solid 42-7 opening-round win over Greenville in the first week of the high school football postseason last Saturday at Monticello, the Sages will make the trip to Benton for a second-round matchup with the undefeated Rangers.

From the Southern Illinois River-to-River Conference, the 10-0 Rangers boast an explosive offense led by Keegan Glover who is a three-year starter at quarterback. Monticello Coach Cully Welter compares Glover to the Texas A&M version of Johnny Manziel. 

Benton plays on artificial turf and to prepare for the change, the Sages were able to utilize the facilities at Argenta-Oreana High School. Coach Welter says it's good to get on the turf and become familiar with the speed change.

The Sages will be without linebacker and fullback Blake McDuffie. He left the game against Tolono Unity in week 9. 

The Rangers shut out Piasa Southwestern 42-0 last week, running just 32 plays and gained 228 yards of total offense.
