Monticello QB Sprinkle Named First Team All-State

Monticello senior quarterback Joey Sprinkle has been named to the Illinois High School Football Coaches Association's first-team all-state announced earlier this week.

 

Sprinkle the 8-3 Sages to a second-round playoff appearance where they were knocked out by Benton. The Rangers were led by fellow first-team all-state quarterback Keegan Glover.

 

Tolono Unity lineman Austin McDaniel and Paxton-Buckley-Loda runningback Tyler Smith were also named to the first team.

 

Benton senior defensive back Chase Thomas was a first-team selection. 

 

Other area First Team selections include in 1A, Ridgeview's Evan Antonio and Kaden Farrell, Arcola's Beau Edwards, and Central A&M's Jarrett Robertson. 

 

Class 2A first team selections include Decatur St. Teresa's Demin Cook, Maroa-Forsyth's Cade Culp, and Tri-Valley quarterback Andrew Petrill.

 

Rochester's do-it-all athlete and Illinois commit Hank Beatty highlights the 4A first team. The Rockets' Johnny Neal was also selected to the first team. Other local selections include Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin juniors Cory West and Ty Lott, Mt. Zion's Christian Keyhea, and Peoria Notre Dame lineman Mikkel Flores.

 

Morton's Seth Glatz and Mac Anderson highlight the Class 5A first-team selections. The Potters' Glatz has had a record-setting season in leading the Mid Illini Co-Champs to a state semifinal appearance. Mahomet-Seymour quarterback Wyatt Bohm was selected to the 5A first team along with Jacksonville quarterback Elijah Owens and Mattoon's Aiden Spurgeon. 

 

In 6A, Normal West's Max Ziebarth and Springfield High's Rashad Rochelle were local first-team selections.
