The Calgary Flames won't be playing hockey through at least Dec. 16. On Monday, the NHL announced that Flames games will be postponed through at least Thursday due to players and a staff member entering NHL's COVID-19 protocol. In total, six Flames players and one staff member entered the COVID-19 protocol within a 24-hour period.

Out of safety precaution they are stopping all team action.

The league announcement stated that the games are postponed because of "concern with continued spread, and the likelihood of additional positive cases in the coming days." The league added  that "the decision was made following consultation by the NHL's, the NHLPA's and Club's medical groups."

The Flames were originally scheduled face the Blackhawks in Chicago on Monday before heading to Nashville to face the Predators on Tuesday and then playing host to the Maple Leafs on Thursday. All three games are postponed as of Monday. It remains to be seen what the plan is for their scheduled home  game against the Blue Jackets on Saturday.

With the postponement of games also comes the team shutting down its facilities, effective immediately as of Monday morning. Players and staff won't be allowed at Flames facilities until further notice.

The games that are being missed do not have rescheduled dates yet, but the league said in their statement that they are working with the Flames on "reviewing and revising" the schedule.
