Big Second Half Propels Monticello Over Carlyle in Greenville

The Monticello Sages shook off a frustrating first half to power past Carlyle 57-39 in non-conference boy's basketball action from Greenville High School at the Comet's Quad Shootout. 

 

It was the first of two games for Monticello on Saturday.

 

After shooting 30-percent from the floor in the first half, the Sages rebounded to shoot 15-for-21 and outscored the Indians 39-12 to pull away for another double-digit win. 

Dylan Ginalick, Joey Spinkle, and Ben Cresap all scored 13 points to lead Monticello. 

 

The Sages dished out 15 assists on 22 field goals and committed only eight turnovers.

Tanner Buehnerkepmer and Cresap grabbed five rebounds apiece and Cresap dished out seven assists. 

 

Sprinkle was the Piatt/DeWitt County ServPro player of the game.

 

Carlyle was led by Wyatt Not Huas' 12 points. 

 

Monticello improves to 8-0 on the season and Carlyle drops to 5-7. They are back in action at 7:30 pm tonight taking on Greenville.
