Maroons Use Stifling Defense to Get By Ridgeview for Seventh Place at Monticello Holiday Hoopla

The Clinton Maroons turned over the Ridgeview Mustangs 18 times and converted those turnovers into 24 points en route to a 58-47 victory for seventh place at the Monticello Holiday Hoopla at the Sievers Center at Monticello High School.

 

Ridgeview shot 43-percent from the floor and while the Maroons shot just 40-percent, they made nine three-pointers and 33 attempts to the Mustangs single three-point basket.

 

Clinton had 14 assists on its 22 field goals made. 

 

Mason Walker led Clinton with 23 points, five assists and five rebounds. 

Trevor Scott scored 14 points and Colton Walker finished with nine points and nine rebounds. 

 

The 1-14 Mustangs had three players score in double figures with Cam Kelly leading the way with 19 points. Cale Hoffman added 14 points and Jacob Whitehall added 12. 

 

The Maroons led for 22 minutes and 57 seconds improving to 5-10 overall. 

 

Clinton returns to action next week for three home games against LeRoy Tuesday night, Tuscola Friday night and Peoria Heights Saturday night as part of the New Year's Showdown at Clinton High School.
