Peoria Christian Edges Maroa-Forsyth

Maroa-Forsyth couldn't buy a basket in overtime and Peoria Christian edged Maroa-Forsyth 56-55 in overtime from the Clinton High School New Year's Shootout Saturday afternoon.

 

The Trojans finished 3-for-6 from the foul line in the extra session for its only points.

 

Wes Hunt scored 27 points to lead Peoria Christian. Kitan Isawumi scored 14 points and Gavin Johnson chipped in with 10 points.

 

Kaden Maurer scored 14 points to lead the Trojans, Eagan Franzen added 11 points while Jaxson Grubbs and Mitch Williams each scored nine points. 

 

The Trojans battled back after getting down 38-22 at the half, outscoring Peoria Christian 21-8 in the third quarter. 

 

Peoria Christian improves to 12-2 overall while Maroa-Forsyth falls to 9-5.

 

The Trojans are off until next Friday night when they travel to Mason City to take on Illini Central.
