Monticello Remains No. 6 in Latest 2A Rankings

The Monticello Sages lost last week right before the first 2022 high school basketball rankings were released but the loss didn't seem to impact its standing at sixth in Class 2A.

 

The Sages stayed put at sixth. Nashville jumps to the top team in 2A. Last week's No. 1, Chicago Orr drops to No. 2 followed by Chicago Leo, up a spot from last week. DePaul College Prep dropped from second to fourth this week and Chicago Clark remains at No. 5.

 

Last week, Monticello's opponent for its first and only loss on the season, Teutopolis, was ranked, however, the Wooden Shoes have fallen out of the rankings after a loss at Warrensburg-Latham last week. Murphysboro tied with Breese Central for No. 7 and El Paso-Gridley and Pinckneyville round out the 2A top 10.

 

Meridan stayed put at No. 3 in the latest 1A rankings. Yorkville Christian and Scales Mound were 1-2 in the latest rankings, respectively. 

 

Fulton at No. 4 this week received two first-place votes followed by Peoria Christian. Liberty, Steeleville, South Beloit, Madison, and Tuscola round ou the top 10 in 1A.

 

Chicago Simeon is the unanimous No. 1 in 3A followed by Chicago Mt. Carmel, Hillcrest, Hyde Park, and East St. Louis. Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin jumped a spot to No. 6 followed by Peoria Notre Dame, Burlington Central, Lake Forest and Centralia rounding out the top 10 in 3A.

 

Decatur MacArthur just missed out on the top 10 this week. 

 

Glenbard West is the unanimous No. 1 in 4A followed by Kenwood, Glenbrook South, Chicago Curie and Whitney Young in the top 5. Normal Community No. 6 this week followed by New Trier, Larkin, Wheaton Warrenville South and Oswego East and Rolling Meadows tied for tenth.
