Maroa-Forsyth Gets By Illini Central

Zayn Giles hit a put-back as time expired to lift Maroa-Forsyth over Illini Central 67-65 in a non-conference high school boy's basketball thriller from Illini Central High School Monday night.

 

Giles scored five of his 15 points in the final frame, but none bigger than the putback that allowed th Trojans to move to 10-5 on the season. 

 

Kaden Mauerer eight of his 12 points in the fourth quarter and four Trojans scored in double figures. Egan Franzen scored 10 of his team-high 16 points in the second half. Jaxson Grubbs added 15 points for the Trojans.

 

Illini Central led 21-14 after the first quarter but the Trojans rallied in the second quarter to even the score at 30 at the intermission. Illini Central led 48-44 after three.

 

The Trojans have a quick turnaround when they host Williamsville in Sangamo Conference action tonight at Maroa-Forsyth High School.
