Decatur St. Teresa Gets By Maroa-Forsyth

The Decatur St. Teresa Bulldogs used balanced scoring and Maroa-Forsyth struggled to finish the first half and the game as St. T got by the Trojans 60-54 in non-conference boy's basketball action from Decatur St. Teresa High School Tuesday night. 

 

The Trojans took a 15-12 lead after the first quarter but the Bulldogs came alive in the second quarter and led 32-25 at the break. 

 

Maroa-Forsyth battled back in the third quarter led as Zayn Giles and Jaxson Grubbs scored six points apiece to bring the Trojans within 46-44 after three but the Bulldogs pulled away in the fourth quarter as the Trojans struggled to scored. 

 

Egan Franzen scored eight of his 20 points in the fourth quarter going 2-for-5 from the foul line and as a team, the Trojans finished just 5-for-12 from the charity stripe. 

Grubbs and Giles each finished with 10 points for Maroa-Forsyth.

 

Caydon Wilkins scored 19 points to pace the Bulldogs as four players finished in double figures. Shadow Summer added 13 points while Billy Guyse and Matt Brummer each scored 10 points.

 

The loss snaps a three-game winning streak for Maroa-Forsyth who will travel to New Berlin Friday night for a Sangamo Conference matchup.
