Clinton Superintendent Calls Basketball Squads 'Enjoyable' to Watch, Praises Other Programs

The Clinton Lady Maroons wrapped up an impressive run through the girl's basketball Central Illinois Conference tournament Thursday night finishing second after falling to Tuscola.

The girls have been impressive from start to finish this season and as the postseason approaches, Superintendent Curt Nettles gave the squads props recently and says he has enjoyed watching them when his schedule allows.

Nettles also has been pleased with the boy's squad. Despite the wins not being there at times, he has been very impressed with how hard the kids are playing and how hard they are working.

Nettles also offered a word of commendation to the high school band and director Nathan Wheeler noting how much praise the band receives even from opposing fans and families.

While Nettles did not know much well the wrestling program is doing, however, he did point out numbers were up in the program and offered praise to coach Matt Cooper and the job he and his staff are doing to bring those numbers back up.

As the girl's squad wrapped up a second-place finish at the CIC tournament last night, the boys head to the CIC tournament starting tomorrow at Meridian. They draw Decatur St. Teresa in the first round.
