Monticello Remains at No. 8 in Latest High School Boy's Basketball Poll

The Monticello Sages boy's basketball team remained steady at No. 8 in the latest high school boy's basketball Class 2A state rankings. 

 

Since last week's poll, Monticello has defeated Petersburg PORTA at the Illini Prairie/Sangamo Conference shootout at Maroa-Forsyth High School Saturday evening. They then went on the road again Tuesday for a thrilling one-point victory over Pontiac. 

 

Chicago Leo is the unanimous No.1 team in the state this week followed by DePaul College Prep, Chicago Clark, El Paso-Gridley and Nashville in the top 5.

 

Chicago Orr and Breese Central tied for No. 6 this week. After Monticello at No. 8, Rockford Lutheran checks in at No. 9 and Breese Mater Dei and Chicago Perspectives Charter-Leadership tied for the tenth spot. 

 

In Class 1A, there was only a reshuffling of the top 10 as there were no newcomers to the latest poll. Scales Mound is the No. 1 team with five first place followed by Fulton who jumped Yorkville Christian, who received seven first place votes. Meridian jumped Libertyville to round out the top 5.

 

Tuscola stayed at No. 6 this week. Peoria Christian moved up to No. 6 from No. 10. Concord Triopa swapped spots with South Beloit for 8-9, respectively and Jacksonville Routt fell a spot to No. 10 to round out the poll.

 

In Class 3A, Chicago Simeon is the No. 1 team. Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin moved up a spot to No. 3 and received a first place vote this week. 

 

In Class 4A, Normal Community stayed at No. 4 this week. Glenbard West is the unanimous No. 1 team in the poll. The Ironman were jumped in the poll by Kenwood who moved up to No. 3 swapping spots with New Trier who fell to No. 5 from No. 3.
