Lady Maroons Outlast Warrensburg; Advance To Regional Championship

In a game heard Tuesday night on WHOW, the Clinton Lady Maroons downed the Warrensburg-Latham Lady Cardinals, 43-32, to advance to the 2A Regional Championship at Clinton High School Thursday night.  
 

Clinton jumped out to a 9-3 lead after the first quarter, but the Cards fought back to tie it at 15 apiece at the half.  Clinton rode a late surge in the third to lead, 29-21, going into the fourth.  Warrensburg rallied to tie it at 31-31 with 2:30 left to play, but Clinton outscored them 12-1 to close it out. 
 

The Maroons were led by Mallory Cyrulik with 17 points.  Kaitlyn Rauch added 10 as well.  The Serv-Pro of Piatt & Dewitt County "Player of the Game" was Reagan Filkin, who provided a 10 point outburst off the bench in the third quarter to boost the Maroons.  
 

Warrensburg-Latham was led by Brooke Oakley with 10, and Jocelyn Turner with 9.  The Cardinals end their season with a record of 21-12.  
 

The Lady Maroons improve to 27-5 overall with the win.  The 27 wins is the most in one season in school program history.  
 

Clinton takes on Paris for the Regional Championship Thursday night at 7p at Clinton High School.  Hear all the action on all WHOW platforms!
