Lady Maroons Fall In Regional Championship

In a game heard Friday night on WHOW, the Clinton Lady Maroons saw their record setting season come to an end at the hand of the Paris Tigers, 63-38.

Paris entered the contest ranked 6th in the state in Class 2A, while the Lady Maroons were ranked 12th.  Clinton jumped out to an early lead, but Paris got hot from outside midway through the first quarter, and never slowed down.  The Tigers hit a dozen three pointers in the game, pulling away in both the second and fourth quarters.

The 27-4 Tigers were led by Madyson Rigdon with 18, Katelyn Littleton with 16, and Kendra Young with 12.

Clinton ends the season with a record of 27-6. The 27 wins is the most in a season in program history.   Mallory Cyrulik was named the Serv-Pro of Piatt & Dewitt County "Player of the Game."  The senior led Clinton with 17 points. She ends her career among school leaders in scoring and rebounds with over a thousand of each.  Senior Kaitlyn Rauch added 9, and ends her Maroons career with over a thousand points scored as well.  Senior Kylie Raymer also added 9 for Clinton.

Raymer and Makayla Koeppel of the Maroons also advanced to the Sectional round of the state 3-point shootout Friday night.  They'll join Paris' Littleton and Maroa-Forsyth's Leah Adlaugh in advancing to the next round.
