Monticello Up To No. 6 in Latest High School Basketball Polls

The Monticello Sages high school boy's basketball team is up to No. 6 in the latest top 10 poll as the postseason opened over the weekend.

 

The Sages were part of a three-way tie for seventh last week but sit alone at No. 6 this week. Chicago Leo is the unanimous top team in 2A. Chicago Clark, DePaul College Prep, El Paso-Gridley and Nashville round out the top five.

 

Following the Sages at No. 6, Chicago Perspectives Charter Leadership, Breese Central, Breese Mater Dei, and Rockford Lutheran round out the top 10 in 2A.

 

Yorkville Christian is the top team in Class 1A this week with ten first-place votes. Scales Mound is No. 2 with four first-place votes. Peoria Christian, Tuscola and Meridian come in eight through ten, respectively, in this week's rankings. Fulton, Liberty and Altamont round out the top five wile Concord Triopia and Steeleville are 6-7, respectively. 

 

In Class 3A, Chicago Simeon remains No. 1 with 11 of 12 first-place votes. Hillcrest received the other first-place vote at No. 4 this week. East St. Louis moved up a spot to No. 2 followed by Harvey Thornton at No .3. Hyde Park rounds out the top 5. 

 

Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin is No. 6 this week followed by Burlington Central, Chicago Mt. Carmel, Centralia and Metamora to round out the top 10. 

 

Lincoln received a vote in this week's polling but did not make the top 10.

 

In Class 4A, Glenbard West is the unanimous No. 1 while Normal Community is up to No. 3 in this week's poll.
