Clinton High School Boy's Basketball Coach Reflects on 2021-22 Season

The Clinton Maroon's boy's basketball team finished its 2021-22 season 11-21 but its second-year coach is very pleased with the progress his team made.

Coach Dan Luketich says something he noticed was games in the first half of the season where his team would be leading late in the game but coming up short were games they would finish down the stretch.

The Maroons were a very young team with no seniors among their regulars and a bench that featured two to three freshmen at times. Coach Luketich admits his style of play requires not only some familiarity through experience but also a deep and quality bench, something he hopes to have next year.

Prior to his first year as the Maroons head varsity coach, Coach Luketich did not have a summer to work with his team so this season was really the first time he was able to work extensively with them. Now he has a full summer to get in the gym with the kids and work on the things he wants to dial in on.

While rarely the tallest team on the floor on a given night, Coach Luketich says his kids may not be able to control their stature, they can control how strong they are and he indicates getting in the weight room will be a focus this offseason as well.
