Illinois' Cockburn Named First Team All American

Illinois junior center Kofi Cockburn has been voted a first-team Associated Press All-American, one of three Big Ten players selected to the first team.

The AP First-Team features Ochai Agbaji, Kansas, Johnny Davis, Wisconsin, Keegan Murray, Iowa, and Oscar Tshiebwe, Kentucky.

Kofi was the only player in the nation averaging 20+ points (21.1 ppg) and 10+ rebounds (10.6 rpg) and the only player ranked in the top 20 nationally in both scoring (12th) and rebounding (8th).

Cockburn is just the second Illinois player ever to earn first-team All-America honors by the AP, after Ayo Dosunmu became the first Illini to do so last season.

After garnering second-team All-America honors last year as a sophomore, Cockburn is just the third two-time AP All-America selection in school history, joining Dike Eddleman and Dee Brown.

Kofi was also a First Team All Big Ten selection.

The Illini will battle Chatanooga in the round of 64 on Thursday.
