HS Softball: Lady Maroons Pick Up First Win Over Sullivan

In a game heard Thursday night on WHOW, the Clinton Lady Maroons downed Sullivan 13-4 in CIC Conference play to pick up their first win of the season.

A cold, damp, blustery afternoon didn't slow down Clinton's offense. The Maroons were able to capitalize on four Sullivan errors, but also totaled 11 hits in the contest.  Clinton was led by the Serv-Pro of Piatt/Dewitt County Player of the Game - Brooke Reeves.  The sophomore went 4 for 4 at the plate with two doubles, a walk, two RBI, and 4 runs scored.  Reeves also picked up her first varsity win throwing 6 innings while giving up 4 runs on 10 hits with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts.  Clinton's Heidi Humble went 2 for 3 at the plate with a Grand Slam, 5 RBIs, 2 walks, and 2 runs scored.  Ariana Humes went 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI as well for the Maroons.

Annabella Brownlee led Sullivan going 3 for 4 with a double.  Taylar Mercer was 2 for 4, and Shaylin Hunter went 1 for 2 with an RBI double.

Clinton improves to (1-6) overall, and (1-1) in the CIC.  Sullivan falls to (7-2) overall, and (2-1) in conference.

The Lady Maroons next play Friday at home against Central A&M.  They will next be featured on WHOW on April 18th against Meridian.

Next week, our WHOW Maroons "Game of the Week" features Clinton baseball hosting Shelbyville Tuesday afternoon at 4:30 pm.
