HS Baseball: Late Push Gets Sullivan Past Clinton

The Sullivan Redskins scored six unanswered runs in the final two innings to rally past Clinton 11-7 in Central Illinois Conference high school boy's baseball action Thursday in Clinton.

 

Leading 7-5 going into the sixth inning, Sullivan scored two runs in the top of the sixth inning to tie the score and then rallied for four runs in the top of the seventh inning to take the lead.

 

Mason Walker got the start for Clinton pitching into the sixth inning and allowed seven runs but two were earned as Clinton committed six errors. Brooks Cluver came on in the sixth inning and allowed four runs but none were earned. Cluver lasted 1 2/3 innings.

 

Jaxson White got the final out of the seventh.

 

Jackson Matheson led Sullivan going 4-for-4 with five RBIs. 

 

Wes Harrold finished 2-for-3 with two runs batted in for Clinton and Josh Carter and Walker each finished 2-for-4. Walker had two doubles.

 

The Maroons are 1-3 overall and 1-2 in the Central Illinois Conference. They will host Central A&M Monday.
