Mt. Pulaski Walks Off Heyworth

The Mt. Pulaski Hilltoppers walked off the Heyworth Hornets in the bottom of the seventh inning coming away with a 6-5 victory in non-conference high school boy's baseball action Tuesday from Mt. Pulaski.

 

From the leadoff spot, Evan Cooper finished 3-for-4 with a run scored, Landon Smith was 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs while AJ Bailey and Lucas Kuhlman drove in runs for the Hilltoppers. 

 

Smith went five innings on the mound allowing five runs, four were earned, and walked two with six strikeouts. 

 

Gavin Smith finished the game with two shutout innings.

 

Sophomore Tyler Wills led the Hornets going 3-for-4 with three RBIs while Dylan Esposito finished 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored. 

 

Heyworth drops to 5-12 overall while the Hilltoppers go to 10-3 overall. Mt. Pulaski resumes Tomahawk Conference play Thursday when they take on Illini Bluffs in Glasford.
