ISU Drops Sunday Finale, Weekend Series With Bradley

Senior Aidan Huggins blasted a two-run home run to bring the Illinois State baseball team to within a run, but the Redbirds dropped the series finale, 8-2, against Bradley on Sunday at Duffy Bass Field.

Huggins hit a two-run shot in the 6th inning to cut the Redbirds' (15-19 overall, 3-6 Missouri Valley Conference) deficit to 3-2 before the Braves (13-20 overall, 4-5 MVC) put the game away with a five-run 9th inning.

The Braves got the scoring going in the 1st inning with a two-run home run before a solo shot extended the lead to 3-0.

Huggins hit a two-run home run to left-center field in the 6th inning to cut the deficit to 3-2.

Illinois State nearly tied the game in the 8th inning on a safety squeeze but the Braves were able to get the runner at the plate.

Bradley added five insurance runs in the 9th inning to put the game out of reach.

Illinois State is scheduled to travel to SIUE on Tuesday before hosting Indiana on Wednesday.
