Seeding Announced for Baseball, Softball Postseason

Most high school baseball games in central Illinois were postponed Tuesday with rain in the area early in the day but high school baseball and softball teams received notice of seeding for the upcoming postseason.

 

There's about a week-and-a-half left in the high school baseball and softball regular seasons. The Clinton Maroons are the ninth seed in the Decatur Millikin sub-sectional. Eureka is the top seed in the sub-sectional followed by Tremont, Pontiac and El-Paso Gridley rounding out the top four seeds. 

 

Olympia, Tri-Valley, Prairie Central, Fieldcrest and Dee-Mack are also in the sub-sectional. Eureka and Olympia will serve as Regional hosts.

 

In the other sub-sectional of the Millikin Sectional, Monticello is the third seed. Illini Prairie Conference teams dominate the top-three seeds of the sub-sectional. St. Joseph-Ogden is the top seed followed by Tolono Unity, Monticello and Bismarck-Henning.

 

Westvilla,e Clifton Central, Fithian-Oakwood, GCMS, Iroquois West, Paxton-Buckley-Loda, and Hoopeston round out the sub-sectional. Tolono Unity and Hoopeston are Regional hosts.

 

Highlighting the Pleasant Plains Sectional, in one sub-sectional, Shelbyville received the top seed followed by Gillespie, North Mac, and New Berlin. Piasa Southwestern, Carlinville, Auburn, Pana, Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond, Sullivan and Litchfield round out the sub-sectional.

 

Maroa-Forsyth is the other top seed in the Pleasant Plains sub-sectional. Quincy Notre Dame, Beardstown, and Pittsfield round out the top-four seeds. Other teams in the sub-sectional include Williamsville, Pleasant Plains, Warrensburg-Latham, Athens, PORTA, Tri-City, Rushville-Industry, and Riverton round out the sub-sectional. 

 

Mt. Pulaski is the top-seed in the Class 1A Champaign St. Thomas More sub-sectional. Decatur St. Teresa, Salt Fork and Champaign St. Thomas More round out the top four seeds of the sub-sectional.

 

Argenta-Oreana, Georgetown-Ridge Farm, Villa Grove, Decatur LSA, Cerro Gordo, Broadlands Heritage, and Champaign Judah Christian round out the rest of the field of the sub-sectional. Mt. Pulaski and Salt Fork will serve as Regional hosts.

 

In the other sub-sectional, Blue Ridge received the eighth seed.

 

In the Illinois Wesleyan Sectional, Delavan received the top seed of one sub-sectional followed by LeRoy, Roanoke-Benson, and Gardner-South Wilmington. 

 

Heyworth, Ridgeview, Lexington, Streator-Woodland, Dwight, Hart-Em, and Bloomington Cornerstone Christian Academy round out the rest of the field in the sub-sectional.

 

In the Effingham St. Anthony Sectional, Tuscola received the eighth seed, followed by Central A&M and Meridian in the following seeds. 

 

In the Maroa-Forsyth Sectional, Clinton and Monticello are seeded in the same sub-sectional. The Lady Maroons received the ninth seed while Monticello is the fifth seed. Maroa-Forsyth is the top seed of the sub-sectional followed by Bloomington Central Catholic, Warrensburg-Latham, and Normal U-High. 

 

Tri-Valley, Pana, Bismarck-Henning, and Cerro Gordo are also in the sub-sectional. Monticello and Normal U-High will serve as Regional hosts.

 

In the other sub-sectional, Effingham St. Anthony is the top seed followed by Tolono Unity, St. Joseph-Ogden, and Westville. Teutopolis, Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond, Paris, Marshall, Sullivan, Shelbyville, and Fithian-Oakwood round out the field of the sub-sectional.

 

Olympia received the top seed of the first sub-sectional in the Athens Sectional. Buffalo Tri-City, Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin, and Carlinville round out the top-four seeds. 

Auburn, Williamsville, North Mac, Pittsfield, New Berlin and Riverton round out the rest of the field. 

 

In Class 1A of girl's softball, LeRoy received the top seed in the sub-sectional of its Sectional. Fisher, Heyworth, and Watseka round out the top-four seeds of the sub-sectional. The field rounds out with Armstrong, Milford, Blue Ridge, Champaign St. Thomas More, Donovan, and Tri-Point. 

 

Tuscola received the other sub-sectional top-seed of the LeRoy Sectional. Meridian, Villa Grove and Argenta-Oreana are the top-four seeds. Arcola, Georgetown-Ridge Farm, Salt Fork, Decatur St. Teresa, Hume-Shiloh, Broadlands-Heritage and Chrisman round out the rest of the field.
