HS Softball: Maroa-Forsyth Blanks Monticello

In a game heard on 95.9 FM WEZC and online at dewittdailynews.com, Marina Rohman faced three-batters over the minimum in a complete-game shutout effort and Maroa-Forsyth blanked Monticello 3-0 in non-conference high school girl's softball action.

Rohman stuck out eight, allowed two hits, and walked one.

Megan Holub and Reese Turpak went deep against Macy Hicks and Kaylee Yost drove in a run a ground out.

Addison Wallace and Reese Patton had the only hits for Monticello and Lizzie Stiverson drew a walk for the Lady Sages.

Hannah Uebinger was named the ServPro of Piatt/DeWitt County Player of the Game for her defensive efforts. Uebinger had an outfield assist when Tori Thomas hit a bullet through the box for a single to centerfield. The ball was hit so hard when Uebinger fielded it, it bounced in front of her.

Uebinger lost track of the ball for a split second and Thomas took off for second but Uebinger recovered and threw a strike to second base to get Thomas trying to take the exra base. Uebinger also had four putouts.

The Lady Trojans move to 19-7 overall while the Lady Sages drop to 8-12.

The next Sages broadcast on WEZC and at dewittdailynews.com is Thursday afternoon when Monticello hosts Rantoul in Illini Prairie Conference action at 4:30 pm.
