HS Softball: Shelbyville Downs Clinton

Shelbyville scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to break a 4-all tie and got by Clinton 9-4 in Central Illinois Conference High School girl's softball action from Shelbyville Wednesday afternoon.

 

Brooke Reeves pitched a scoreless inning to start for Clinton and the wheels fell off late for Ashley Armstrong who allowed all nine runs, but six were earned. She walked two, struck out four and permitted 11 hits.

 

Reeves was 2-for-3 with a double and RBI to lead the Lady Maroons offense. Heidi Humble finished 2-for-2 with a triple, pair of walks, and an RBI. Alaina Soberalski, Ari Humes, Ella Steward, and Mea Kivlehan each recorded hits for Clinton. 

 

The Lady Maroons fall to 3-16 overall and are 2-9 in the Central Illinois Conference.

 

Clinton will host Tuscola this afternoon and then travels to Meridian Friday to wrap up the regular season before Regional play at Cerro Gordo next week.
