Meridian used a quick start and shut down Clinton for a 7-2 win in Central Illinois Conference High School girl's softball action Friday afternoon from Meridian.
Katy Hendrick struck out 17 in a complete game, two-run effort in circle for the Lady Hawks. Hendricks walked four and permitted four hits.
Hendricks went 1-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs. Lucy and Lizzie Snow each tripled as well for Meridian. Sophie Roe and Kristina Smith added a double apiece in the victory. Hendricks and Snow had two RBIs apiece.
Brooke Reeves and Chloe Griffin finished 1-for-4 for the Lady Maroons and Heidi Humble was 2-for-3 with a double and drove in both Clinton runs.
Meridian moves to 22-5 overall and 13-1 in the CIC.
Clinton drops to 3-19 overall and 2-12 in the CIC.
