The Monticello Sages track and field teams are headed to Sectionals today with girl's state this weekend in Charleston and boy's state next weekend.

Monticello track coach Cully Welter has been pleased with how his team has done this season. The Sages took third in both the boy's and girl's conference meet.

This spring has been one for the books for a lot of programs across central Illinois. Coach Welter says it's been frustrating for him in trying to maintain forward momentum with his student-athletes.

Coach Welter indicates while some sports like baseball depend on a somewhat dry day, track can run through the rain and even cold but he says sometimes wind plays a big factor in a decision to ultimately run a meet.
